ABOUT THE FOUNDATION

In 2023 Prostate Cancer Foundation BC converted their name to Prostate Cancer Foundation Canada to reflect the work that the foundation had undertaken from 2021 when it had created Prostate Cancer Support Canada.

We are a grassroots charity. With a five person staff and the support of hundreds of volunteers, we have minimal administrative overhead and we are able to focus on allocating resources to where they matter most: support, awareness, and research.  Our volunteer board and council members, support group leaders, and event volunteers are the heart of the Foundation helping with fundraising, event coordination, and supporting men throughout Canada.  Now more than ever, we need your help to continue our mission to support Canada’s men.

ABOUT THE CAUSE

Despite prostate cancer being the most prevalent cancer in men, it is also one of the most chronically underfunded relative to the number of cases, deaths, and years of life lost.  It is a disease that impacts thousands of men and their families each year in BC. More than 3,000 men will have been diagnosed in BC in 2022 alone.  Just under 23,000 will have been diagnosed across Canada and 1 in 8 men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer in their lifetime.

It is our mission to minimize the impact that prostate cancer has on these men, to provide hope for better outcomes, and to narrow the gender gap seen in cancer support in Canada.

ABOUT THE FATHER'S DAY WALK RUN

The Father’s Day Walk Run is Prostate Cancer Canada’s main fundraising event each year, accounting for nearly two thirds of our annual event revenue.  Over the past 25 years, the Father’s Day Walk Run has raised more than 4.5 million dollars allowing us to continue providing leadership in prostate cancer research and support and successfully raise awareness about a cancer that, due to “below the belt” stigma, does not get enough attention
